With the extraction of Stephens’ ‘Miss Daisy’ sculpture from the waters in Chesham, Buckinghamshire in June, Stephen has collaborated with local brickmaker HG Matthews to create a piece that will hopefully engage and delight local residents and vistors alike.
We all know that cats fear water but love mice. Here is the cat’s dilemma, to risk the perilous journey from stack to stack and reach the mice without falling in the water.
We hope that it will encourage children to come to the Park and interact with the piece by drawing it, or creating a story around it. Stephen is open to creating a local award for the best photograph and painting of the piece in situ over a six month period to include the local community in the piece.
The technology HG Matthews apply to their bricks is astounding. We propose that each stack of semi-circular bricks are coloured using ceramic finishes. This both demonstrates innovation and a visual impact to the piece. The colours that are proposed fit within a green/blue area of the spectrum to reflect the water theme.
We’ve had the go ahead and we are looking to install in the New Year 2017.
