This project commissioned for a beautiful villa in the South of France .
A pair of owls welcome visitors at the gates and a pair of bronze boxing hares stand proud on the driveway walls.
In the lower garden high in a tree, swings a carefree mouse. All created and installed by Stephen himself.
This commission started from the client seeing my work on my website. Following discussions, I created sketches for approval and the locations for each piece. Once approved, I start by creating original for each piece. The Swinging Mouse cannot be cast in bronze as it would be too heavy for the supporting trees. The utmost care is taken when attaching the piece to the trees in front and also the ones behind that retain the wire that holds the mouse swinging high.
The owls were a personal favourite of the client and they welcome visitors and at night, their diamond eyes reflect in a car’s headlights. Each piece was made separately, one holds out a wing of welcome that adds a quirkiness making this pair so unique.
These pugilist bronze pair adorn a drystone wall at the entrance to the property.
Their rough exterior works well with the surrounding stone wall and they will forever fight on and on.
