Overview
"Stephen delighted us both with his ingenious sculpture that celebrates our 50 years of marriage."

Challenge: How to celebrate a rich and bountiful marriage?

Fifty years of togetherness has love at its heart. For me, this sculpture seemed an apt concept to illustrate this union and where better than on top of the world!

There is a story to tell, one that can immerse you in an never-ending story of joy and commitment. This sculpture celebrates Paul & Marguerite’s golden wedding anniversary and the storytelling that involves family and the global achievements of them both.

A world in the making.

The client presented a challenge to Stephen: ‘How to celebrate a rich and bountiful marriage?’

Highlighting fifty years of togetherness with love at its heart, this sculpture seemed an apt concept to illustrate their union and where better than on top of the world?

The client - Paul, wanted a surprise sculpture that marked the golden wedding anniversary that he was about to share with his wife Marguerite.  Paul was specific that the piece should form part of the storytelling of their marriage enveloping their travels and global achievements together.

As Paul had insisted that the piece be developed under wraps until the great reveal, it meant that he had to meet to discuss and review the stages with Stephen in secret, whilst Marguerite was otherwise occupied at painting classes and local volunteering activities.

Working from a small maquette, Stephen embarked on creating the piece that we see today - a unique hand-crafted sculpture in resin, forming a tribute to their globetrotting history taking in momentous locations, that now forms the basis to much story-telling.

As an outdoor piece, it proudly stands in their garden as a continual reminder of their years together and for visitors to circumnavigate and to hear the stories that ignite the memories of their wonderful life together.  The sculpture features jewel-like symbols around the globe that catch the light and represent innumerable family events such as births, weddings and their previous home locations.
