Merlo began for me with a simple visual idea: a bear with a nose that is also a wine glass.

It’s an image that plays with both the eye and the brain. At first, people don’t always see the connection, and I love watching that moment when the penny drops. There’s a little surprise, followed by a smile – and from there, the appreciation simply grows.

Merlo is a large, powerful and emotional image, created to bring a sense of play and character to your space. It can be painted in a colour chosen specifically for your environment, including my warm bronze leaf mirror finish, which catches and reflects the ambient light as you move around the painting.

It is playful, decorative and deliberately designed to make people stop, look twice and smile.

Made specifically for you

I don’t have paintings sitting on a shelf waiting to be chosen. I create each original Merlo specifically for you.

We can discuss the space where you would like Merlo to live, the size that works best for your room, and the background colour that suits your Environment. I’m always happy to talk through the possibilities and help you arrive at something that feels right for your space.

To make the decision easier, I also offer a photo visualisation service. Simply send me photographs of the wall or walls you are considering, and I can place a Merlo painting into the space so you can see how it might look in your own home before I begin painting.

Your original Merlo

Each Merlo is individually painted in acrylic on a large 90cm x 90cm sheet of aluminium and presented in a black anodised aluminium tray frame.

Every painting is an original and comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity.

From conversation to painting

I encourage an initial conversation before I begin. It gives us an opportunity to talk through the painting itself, the space it is intended for and any installation requirements. I’m always here to help, whether you already know exactly what you want or would simply like to explore the possibilities.

Once your order is confirmed, I get to work.

Within ten working days, your Merlo will be ready for dispatch — created specifically for you, for your space, and for the enjoyment of everyone who stops, looks twice and smiles.
